Yesterday was a good day...
It has to be said that this week has been pretty crappy to say the least however yesterday made up for it.
To start with Nix and I finally booked our trip to Oz!!! Now anyone that knows me knows 1, that I am terrified of flying and 2, that I am totally supersticious.... Somehow Nix has justified us flying out on Friday the 13th!!! The logic is that as our flight isn't until 10.15 pm that realistically within an hour we'll be over another country and they'll be at least an hour ahead of us so its not like we're properly flying on Friday the 13th.... If anyone comments on how this isn't accurate, please be prepared for the consequences, you have been warned...
Anyway, so our trip starts with a flight to Hong Kong where we'll spend a couple of days and then we're gonna fly into Brisbane and there our road trip begins. We're gonna drive North first and go to Fraser Island and then come back down taking in Surfers Paradise, Byron Bay and Port Macsomething to name buy a few. We should then arrive in Sydney, where we are going to spend 4/5 days, Nix buddy is getting married and then we're off again making our way down to Melbourne, probably via Canberra (Jonny P is dithering but there is a slight chance that he may come too, we just have to work on the gentle persuasion...) How exciting!
Then once we had booked our flights yesterday we were off to Milton Keynes Bowl, back in time 10 years, to watch Take That!!! All I can say is "oh my god!" Despite a really shit journey up there which took 4 hours due to traffic, (we broke the journey up with a stop at the services where chocolate eclairs amongst other goodies were purchased), it was soooooooooo worth it.
The sun was shining, it was a hot day and around 6pm the amazing voice of Beverly Knight filled the area, she belted out all my faves and what a way to start the evening. Mad dash between Beverly and The Sugarbabes allowed for a sociable pimms... The Sugababes had everyone dancing and Too Lost in You brought a tear to both Nix and I, ah we're so pathetic.... but then after a panic wee for Nix and then another dash for Pimms the boys were there....
For some reason, Nix was like a dog on heat in general yesterday but it was made so much worse upon seeing them and what was a very welcome surprise was how fit Mr Barlow has become, (if this had sound you would have heard me sigh!) They all looked totally gorgeous and gave a stunning show, it was totally amazing! (Note to self, stop saying totally!) Now confession time, 10 years ago it was always Robbie and Howard for me but I have to say they all did it for me yesterday and judging by the reaction of the 100,000 people or so around me, im guessing it was the same for them.
They sang all the hits from it only takes a minute, a million love songs, sure, could it magic (with a hologram of Robbie on stage) to a medley of Beatles Tracks to a piss take of manufactured boy bands - it was phenomonal (if they bring it out on dvd, hint for my buddies, I want it!) I have to own up and say that i'd forgotten how good they actually were (I can just imagine what sort of comments i'm gonna get now and Mat you can say nothing, the venetian who???)
They came back on for an encore and Beverly Knight belted out an additional introduction to which you knew was going to be relight my fire, I commented to Nix that I thought they may duet with her on it as shes good enough to belt it out however, I was wrong, Lulu appeared on stage looking stunning (bitch!), the whole of the bowl was jumping!
Could it be magic was started by a hologram of Robbie however it got so much better, the boys had water being showered onto the stage, they were in it, dancing, splashing, they were wet and so were, anyway....
The boys finished the night on never forget to which an amazing fireworks display lit up the whole of the bowl, Nix and I again had tears in our eyes, (we also had them when they first came on stage - it was emotional!!) and then it was over.... All in all a top day which was well needed.
Oooh almost forgot, dumb blonde comment of the day goes to Nix when she said something about going to be emotional when they did father to son to which I looked at her before laughing and stating that Boyzone sung that!!! (Yes, I loved them too!) She actually meant Never Forget, aaahhh bless her.
All that remains to be said is good luck to our boys against Ecuador today, I shall be in the pub with Janey supporting them in my England pants! (Under my jeans of course.....)
