Buffalo wings and other things...

Let me explain, whilst watching the football on Saturday, as most of you are aware, England scored! Tremendous, however as we were jumping up and down and clapping, Jane said and I quote "I need to lose weight, look at my buffalo wings!" Ah bless her as Jane has the most stunning figure and so does not need to lose weight but when I explained that it was actually bingo wings and the reasons why, she just stood there laughing in amazement. She's so pretty...

Moving on, last night Jonny P and I went to see George Benson, he was superb. For someone who must be nearing 173 years of age all I can say is wow!!! The evening was nicely finished off by a trip to Brick Lane where Jonny P treated me to a salt beef, mustard and gherkin bagel with a cup of tea. It's the simple things....

A good day...

Yesterday was a good day...

It has to be said that this week has been pretty crappy to say the least however yesterday made up for it.

To start with Nix and I finally booked our trip to Oz!!! Now anyone that knows me knows 1, that I am terrified of flying and 2, that I am totally supersticious.... Somehow Nix has justified us flying out on Friday the 13th!!! The logic is that as our flight isn't until 10.15 pm that realistically within an hour we'll be over another country and they'll be at least an hour ahead of us so its not like we're properly flying on Friday the 13th.... If anyone comments on how this isn't accurate, please be prepared for the consequences, you have been warned...

Anyway, so our trip starts with a flight to Hong Kong where we'll spend a couple of days and then we're gonna fly into Brisbane and there our road trip begins. We're gonna drive North first and go to Fraser Island and then come back down taking in Surfers Paradise, Byron Bay and Port Macsomething to name buy a few. We should then arrive in Sydney, where we are going to spend 4/5 days, Nix buddy is getting married and then we're off again making our way down to Melbourne, probably via Canberra (Jonny P is dithering but there is a slight chance that he may come too, we just have to work on the gentle persuasion...) How exciting!

Then once we had booked our flights yesterday we were off to Milton Keynes Bowl, back in time 10 years, to watch Take That!!! All I can say is "oh my god!" Despite a really shit journey up there which took 4 hours due to traffic, (we broke the journey up with a stop at the services where chocolate eclairs amongst other goodies were purchased), it was soooooooooo worth it.

The sun was shining, it was a hot day and around 6pm the amazing voice of Beverly Knight filled the area, she belted out all my faves and what a way to start the evening. Mad dash between Beverly and The Sugarbabes allowed for a sociable pimms... The Sugababes had everyone dancing and Too Lost in You brought a tear to both Nix and I, ah we're so pathetic.... but then after a panic wee for Nix and then another dash for Pimms the boys were there....

For some reason, Nix was like a dog on heat in general yesterday but it was made so much worse upon seeing them and what was a very welcome surprise was how fit Mr Barlow has become, (if this had sound you would have heard me sigh!) They all looked totally gorgeous and gave a stunning show, it was totally amazing! (Note to self, stop saying totally!) Now confession time, 10 years ago it was always Robbie and Howard for me but I have to say they all did it for me yesterday and judging by the reaction of the 100,000 people or so around me, im guessing it was the same for them.

They sang all the hits from it only takes a minute, a million love songs, sure, could it magic (with a hologram of Robbie on stage) to a medley of Beatles Tracks to a piss take of manufactured boy bands - it was phenomonal (if they bring it out on dvd, hint for my buddies, I want it!) I have to own up and say that i'd forgotten how good they actually were (I can just imagine what sort of comments i'm gonna get now and Mat you can say nothing, the venetian who???)

They came back on for an encore and Beverly Knight belted out an additional introduction to which you knew was going to be relight my fire, I commented to Nix that I thought they may duet with her on it as shes good enough to belt it out however, I was wrong, Lulu appeared on stage looking stunning (bitch!), the whole of the bowl was jumping!

Could it be magic was started by a hologram of Robbie however it got so much better, the boys had water being showered onto the stage, they were in it, dancing, splashing, they were wet and so were, anyway....

The boys finished the night on never forget to which an amazing fireworks display lit up the whole of the bowl, Nix and I again had tears in our eyes, (we also had them when they first came on stage - it was emotional!!) and then it was over.... All in all a top day which was well needed.

Oooh almost forgot, dumb blonde comment of the day goes to Nix when she said something about going to be emotional when they did father to son to which I looked at her before laughing and stating that Boyzone sung that!!! (Yes, I loved them too!) She actually meant Never Forget, aaahhh bless her.

All that remains to be said is good luck to our boys against Ecuador today, I shall be in the pub with Janey supporting them in my England pants! (Under my jeans of course.....)

Realisation...

It's official, I am now too old to go clubbing...

I'll come back to that however, it's been a strange week, was away with work at the beginning but back for Thursdays England game against Trinidad & Tobago, which saw us win 2-0!!! "Bring it on the boys" Jonny P and I ended up watching the game (well 2nd half as I was late home from work) in The Swan. Everyone else was in O'Neils, we couldn't get in, obviously cause I had made us late. However, I have to say The Swan was a good place to be, no crowds, no beer being thrown, just a good atmosphere and for once a clear view of the screen.

2 pints of guinness later and for some reason I was totally hammered. I, of course, put it down to the fact that i'm ickle and have no legs and that I hadn't eaten. Well after that, Nici D came in for a couple, then Mat turned up, Nici D left, then Dave and Mart turned up and then Chad too. 4 or 5 bloody marys later (not quite sure how that one happened) I was absolutely shit faced and on a school night!! It was okay though, cause everyone else had somehow got shitfaced too, so I did the obligitary, "shall we go for a curry?" (that'll be the diet totally gone...) I was met with resistance.... About 10 minutes later we were in the kebab shop, class...

Upon arrival back at Pigs Towers (where Mat, Mart n Dave reside) Jonny P promptly fell asleep (just for a change) where to our amusement we spent the next hour adding accessories to him and taking photos, 50 or so snaps later.... (highly amusing, pics can be found on Mats blog)

Friday night was a civilised dinner with Alex n Paula, there was waxing first and then a bbq, does it get any better..... It is also official that Paula really is the biggest lightweight ever, she had 1 glass of Pimms, whilst eating and was absolutely hammered. I must also mention Alexs homemade coleslaw, devine, i'm sure all your footy buddies will be impressed... ;-)

And so it was Saturday and whilst having dinner (Mat, Dave, Nicki n I) Rhys phoned saying he had split with Laura and was coming down. So it was decided, we were going to take Rhys to Sams (Our local club, well just) We hit The Terris bar and several Pimms later, drunk again, we then got a cab to Sams (How lazy, it's a 5 minute walk but my feet were hurting!!!) Oh by this time Rhys had turned around (even though he had got to Reading) and was driving back to Wales to see Laura, hope you work it out dude, you know where we are.... Anyway, Sams, it was a shocker, I sat there with Nix at my side and realisation dawned, im getting old!!! It's not a nice feeling, I looked around the club and realisation that i'm now destined for a life of nights in, in front of the tele. Oh my god, i'm depressed....

Nix and I came back to mine, where I managed to make the best egg and bacon bagels, superb. Mat too came banging on the door and prompty passed out on my kitchen floor as apparently it was cool there. Mat was a little worse for wear, actually the worst I have ever seen him, he could barely stand, ah bless him.

So it's been a strange week in that ive been feeling pretty blue, combined with now having no life ahead of me, what do I do?

If anyone has any suggestions as to how my life may not be officially over, answers on a postcard too......

Baby Sadlers

Grant sent me some pics of Braden and Eloise, they're on Flickr for all to see. Bless Braden now looks exactly like Suz and Eloise is a proper little lady, just like Grant....

Ramble...

I'm not a happy bunny at the moment... Do you ever feel that you always come back to the same point at which you starterd or is it just me?

Enough doom and gloom, heres the cheery stuff - Nix and I are going to Oz (well hopefully)!!! On top of that it looks like i've managed to get it really cheap so even better as I, for some reason, appear to be especially skint at the moment! We're hoping to go in October so it should be nice and sunny, im soooo excited, just seems like ages away though.

Well, the world cup is here at last. Yesterday, instead of going to the pub for various reasons but one of which was that it was lovely and sunny, Nix and I decided we'd buy some lovely, yummy food included in which was pate, brie, french stick, various different salamis, er houmous etc, sit in her garden with the tele outside and watch the game. It was glorious, not the game cause to be fare that was pretty poor however we won which is the main thing. We vegged all day!!! Upon arrival, Nix suggested a jug of pimms, uch was my response as I was suffering from the worst hangover in the world ever!!! (Another reason for not wanting to go anywhere near the pub) We settled for a jug of squash!

The evening was planned, we were going to go for dinner with Nickis dad (her ma is in ireland this week) as he has been living on egg and bacon!!! We went for a yummy meal at La Trattoria where I had whitebait to start following by skate cooked with brown butter and capers, it was seriously good. We then all shared a lemon cheesecake, well to be fare Nix ate most of it, bloody greedy cow!!! It was divine, definately a go again!

We were then supposed to go into town and meet Mat and the others however we ended up back at Nickis watching the token chick flick, it finished, we did the usual - "but real lifes not like that" ha ha.

Today brings house cleaning this morning and then a picnic over Weald Park to celebrate Saskias birthday. Saskia is Bobs' daughter and she was 11 (I think) this week. So as the sun is shining, we're all taking a picnic to the park and apparently there will be rounders, oh the joy!!!

Oh and I have to write more frequently as Dave has done a blog revue and if I slack he's going to remove me!!! Not from the planet, only the link from his blog...
